What is Myofacial release massage ?
Imagine a cling film wrap over your whole body, it holds everything in, your muscles, bones, blood, ligaments.... that is fascia. It supports everything, especially during movement.
So when your fascia gets a restriction or injury, this can restrict your range of movement, make you feel stiff, cause headaches and even stop you from going about our daily lives.
When you get up in the morning, a lof of us feel stiff and creeky, more often than not this is actually our fascia restricting us, therefore as the day goes on you feel more free and range of movement can improve slightly.
Myofascial release or (MFR) is a specialist therapy treatment which works on the soft tissues of the body, benefits can include; better range of movment, correction of muscle imbalance, relieves muscle soreness, relives tight fascia, improves circulation and extremely relaxing.
MFR can be used on any part of the body, however it is particullary effective on the neck, back and legs.
Generally people feel that a 'good massage' should be deep with a lot of pressure to 'do anything' or 'no pain no gain' belief. This simply is not true. Having good MFR massage with a qualified experienced therapist can be extremely effective.
Its always good to check that your massage therapist is registered, therefore you know they are insured and qualified.
Rejuvenate Sussex offers MFR as part of a treatment on a particular area or a whole body treatment.
